Blogmas Day Three: Favorite Christmas Books Turned Hallmark Movies

Welcome To Blogmas Day Three Guys :)

If you're like me and love made for TV Christmas movies, then this is probably your favorite season for watching TV.


There's nothing I love more than curling up with a cup of tea and a blanket, and watching the Hallmark Channel's Christmas movies, except for one thing, and that is watching the Hallmark channel's Christmas movies that have been based on some of my all time favorite Christmas books.


For Today's Blogmas post, I'd like to share some of my favorite book to Hallmark Christmas movie adaptations. 


1) A December Bride by Denise Hunter:

I was actually quite surprised with how much I ended up loving this sweet romance story about a girl who's fiance falls for her cousin, and the fiance's friend who started the mess in the first place instigates a fake engagement to help her through the holidays. While I thought it might not be for me, as I was scared of insta love, I completely adored this story from start to finish, and I can honestly say the Hallmark movie by the same name was fantastic and stayed very true to Denise Hunter's original story.



2) Finding Father Christmas by Robin Jones Gunn:

There have been very few authors whose books have had an impact on my life the way that Robin Jones Gunn's have, in particular her Christy Miller series. So imagine how excited I was to learn that this beloved Christmas story of hers, that's one of my all time favorites, was becoming a Hallmark channel original movie. Robin's novel tells the story of a young woman named Miranda who's had no family to celebrate Christmas with since her mother passed away many years ago. However, a photograph left in her late mother's belongings hints at a family that Miranda never knew she had, and so begins her journey to find the answers she's longed for years to have.


This was another great adaptation by the Hallmark channel, as the movie of the same name had great acting, pleasant chemistry between the two leads, and many of the heartwarming moments from the original novel. I only wish they hadn't changed the location, but all in all I was very happy with this movie. :)



3) The Christmas Angel by Jane Maas;

The Christmas Angel tells a heartwarming story about a hand carved angel who's watched over five generations from her perch atop of outdoor only Christmas trees, and seen much love and loss in her lifetime. This was a beautiful novel that I read a couple of years back, and I honestly had no idea it was being made into a Hallmark movie as they changed the title to Angel of Christmas. While I don't think they stayed as true to this novel as with the other's I've included in this post, I did find myself really enjoying this movie anyways, mainly because I thought it was perfectly cast and still focused on the main important elements of the novel.


4) Dashing Through The Snow by Debbie Macomber:

I've already mentioned this one quite a few times on my blog, but I just can't help myself in including it here as well. This charming, hysterically funny novel tells the story of two people who are complete opposites that end up taking a road trip together thanks to the airport rental car lot only having one car left. This novel is classic Debbie Macomber, and the Hallmark channel did the perfect job of adapting it into the movie of the same name.



5) The Christmas Secret by Donna VanLiere:

While I've definitely enjoyed all the books in this heart wrenching series by Donna VanLiere, The Christmas Secret definitely stands out as my favorite. This beautiful novel tells the story of a single mom who's struggling to make ends meet, and ends up saving the life of a local woman who's had a heart attack. The woman begins a quest to find the angel who saved her life, and in typical Donna VanLiere fashion, you will definitely want Kleenex handy while you read it. I'm also happy to say that the Hallmark movie of the same name stayed very true to the novel, while only changing a few things to work it better into the film. I adore both this book and movie, and they both definitely come highly recommended from me.
